Cornwall’s mental health and community Trust seeks new governors

The Trust is inviting people to stand for election to its Council of Governors. The Trust runs community hospitals and services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. These include mental health and learning disability services.

Now is an exciting time to join the Trust. We are working with partners from the NHS, local authority, the voluntary sector, and communities to roll-out neighbourhood health. It follows our successful bid to be one of the first wave of pioneers in the National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme.

In its latest election, the Trust is seeking 6 people to join its Council of Governors:

  • 2 public governors for the West Cornwall constituency
  • 2 public governors for the East Cornwall constituency
  • 2 staff governors, who must work for the Trust

Governors play a vital role in representing the views of staff, patients, and the public. They help shape the Trust's plans, hold the non-executive directors to account for the performance of the Board, and ensure services meet the needs of local communities.

"Being a governor is a voluntary role but one that is an essential part of our Trust. They bring the voice of our members and the wider public into decision-making and help us improve people's experience of care."

Margaret Schwarz, Chair

The Council of Governors meets 4 times a year. Governors receive full support and training. The Trust pays its governors travel expenses for attending meetings and site visits. Anyone aged 16 or over who is a member of the Trust can apply. If you are not a member, you can join online.

To stand for election, contact Civica by 12 December 2025. The Trust will announce its new governors in February 2026.
