Trust welcomes new non-executive director

Em Wilkinson-Brice will join our Board as a non-executive director next month.
She brings a wealth of experience, in an NHS career spanning a number of different roles and organisations over a 36-year period.
Em has also worked across the southwest, and she is relishing her next challenge here in Cornwall. With everything this beautiful county has to offer, she is looking forward to playing her part in taking the Trust forward on its improvement journey.
"Fuelled by curiosity and a desire to learn and understand the breadth of the NHS I have enjoyed a diverse career to date and have been incredibly fortunate to work with some amazing people - patients, families, and colleagues. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the talented staff in the Trust as we all seek to improve care for patients." Em Wilkinson-Brice
Debbie Richards, Trust Chief Executive, believes that Em, with her vast experience, will be a valuable addition to the Board.
"We are very fortunate to have attracted someone with such a diverse, illustrious NHS career and I believe the Trust will undoubtedly benefit from that." Debbie Richards
Since qualifying as a nurse in Exeter, Em has retained her nursing practice throughout her career.
After working in Exeter, Em moved to Oxford, where she became an assistant director of nursing. She spent 14 years in Oxford and was also part of the National NHS Estates Team that put ward housekeepers into the NHS.
The next stop in Em's career was Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she took on a director of nursing and facilities role.
Em returned to Exeter in 2010 to become chief nurse and worked as chief operating officer and deputy chief executive officer.
In September 2019, Em joined NHS England. She was senior responsible officer for health and wellbeing for all NHS staff at the beginning of the pandemic.
On 12 May she will retire from her role with NHS England, before beginning her new position with the Trust on 1 June.
Em hopes that her years of experience will stand her in good stead for her new role.
"I am delighted to be joining the Trust as a non-executive director at an exciting time for the Trust. I am particularly struck by the commitment and energy of all the people that I have met so far, and I look forward to playing my part as a member of the Board."
Em has been appointed to the Trust for 3 years.
