Trust receives Gold Defence Employer Recognition Award
The Trust has received the highest award given by the Ministry of Defence for its support of the armed forces community.
The Gold Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognises organisations that give outstanding support to people connected to the armed forces.
The award shows the Trust's strong and ongoing commitment to reservists, veterans, military families, and the cadet movement.
A team achievement
Annie Kenton is equity, diversity, and inclusion engagement coordinator for the Trust. She said the award was only possible because of the hard work of many people across the Trust.
"I would like to thank everyone who helped us achieve this award.
"Adrian and Colm gave strong support as our executive sponsors. Their leadership helped us improve support for colleagues from the armed forces community.
"Neill has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the support available to veterans and armed forces colleagues.
"Loo and Jema gave up their own time to attend armed forces events, support cadets with CV writing and careers advice, and help deliver equality, diversity, and inclusion training. Their commitment showed our support for the wider armed forces community.

Annie also played an important role in helping the Trust achieve Gold status.
Colm Owens, the Trust's Chief Medical Officer, said:

What is the Gold Award?
To receive a Gold Award, employers must show that they:
- give reservists at least 10 days of extra paid leave each year
- have supportive policies for reservists, veterans, service families and cadet force adult volunteers
- promote the Armed Forces Covenant and encourage other organisations to support defence
- show a long-term commitment that goes beyond the minimum requirements of the scheme
The award recognises the Trust's ongoing efforts to create a supportive workplace for members of the armed forces community and their families.
