The team will see you if you are an adult patient with any of the following respiratory conditions:

  •  Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Restrictive Airways Disease such as Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • Asthma
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Respiratory Pulmonary Hypertension

What does the Respiratory Nurse Team provide?

If you are referred to the service, the Respiratory Nurse Team will meet with you to assess your condition. Clinics are provided from some of our Community Hospitals, but the nurses will also visit you at home if this is more appropriate. They will also give you advice and guidance on the types of actions you could take to help alleviate your symptoms.

With you, the nurses will identify problems you may be experiencing with your day to day activities. They are able to refer you to other healthcare experts and onto other organisations including social care.

The Respiratory Nurse Team also teach other people, including other healthcare professionals about the management of respiratory conditions and the management of patients on oxygen therapy.
