Healthy Outlook offers a series of workshops and one-to-one sessions to help people manage both their physical and mental wellbeing. The workshops and one-to-one sessions (face-to-face or over the phone) are delivered by our Healthy Outlook Therapists.
How to get the best out of treatment?
- Attend every session: The more you attend, the more you can learn.
- Use the workbook: Everyone will be given a workbook that covers the main learning points. This is a handy resource to make notes, reflect, and fill in worksheets.
- Practice: Each workshop will teach you different ways to manage both your mental and physical health condition. It is important to try and put these techniques into practice in-between workshops and review sessions. The more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
There are three workshops in total and they are designed to complement your one-to-one work. All of the workshops are based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which has a strong evidence base for treating stress, anxiety and depression for those with physical health conditions. Each workshop lasts approximately 90 minutes. All workshops take place in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
Understanding the Link - The first workshop looks at how closely our physical and mental health are linked. It looks at symptoms of stress and depression, how they are caused and how they can impact us. Additionally, this workshop looks at what can maintain our physical and mental health difficulties and how we can become more aware of our own physical and mental health symptoms.
Understanding Our Mind and Body - The second workshop helps us to understand stress and why our bodies react in a certain way. This workshop can support us in managing the physical symptoms of stress and anxiety, which can often feel concerning and link to our physical health symptoms. Additionally, this workshop introduces how our own thought processes and behaviours can influence the way we feel and how we can start managing this.
Healthier Outlook - The third workshop focuses on a familiar way of managing stress; worrying and how to manage worrying. It also focuses on how to keep moving forward with the progress you have made and how to continue to use the skills learned during your time with Healthy Outlook.
