Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit

At the end of March 2017, NHS England announced the Trust would receive £4million to build a 12 bed child and adolescent unit.

Once built, the unit will support young local people between the ages of 13 and 18 and will be located adjacent to the community hospital, which includes a minor injury unit and adult psychiatric facilities, in Bodmin.

The unit will be the first child and adolescent inpatient facility in Cornwall.

This page will keep you up to date as the unit develops:

Our architects have been working with clinical staff to agree what the unit will look like and what facilities should be included.

This is the first draft of the architect’s impression of the unit

The unit will include an educational wing and is designed around pods of bedrooms to enable as much flexibility as possible when responding to young people’s needs.

We took the plans to the Royal Cornwall Show and spoke to over 250 people.
